I'm a CFS sufferer...

« on: February 09, 2010, 03:05:59 PM »

Recently went to Peak District on one of my good days. When I went into Peak Cavern in Castleton I suddenly felt awake, as if I'd been semi-conscious for the last few years! I wanted to stay in there for the rest of my life. Apparently it was a high level of oxygen that did it. Has anyone come across any oxygen therapies for the brainfog? Living in a cave might be a bit extreme!  :-?

Actually Milly you may not be too far off the mark on here with regard to cave dwellers!!!  ;Dlol

Whilst i can't comment directly on the oxygen levels I also suffer from chronic sleep apnoea and sleep with a CPAP machine, whilst it isn't oxygen enriched air flow I certainly no when it has either stopped working, has slipped off or I have fallen asleep without it on.

O2 did exactly the opposite for me.

I had breathing problems where my breathing was laboured in the early part of 2007, in the end I ended up on 2 litres of oxygen per minute for 24 hours a day...

I didn't notice when I didn't need it anymore so I was overdosing for quite some time, I finally came off it in February of this year and I can say I felt a heck of a lot better.

O2 doesn't help ME/CFS... perhaps it was the different kind of air that helped.

For instance I find our local forest a godsend for making me feel a little better, it's just the fresh air in the trees that does the trick Smiley

Yes I came across this:

http://www.airnergy-oxygen-therapy.com/content.aspx?ID=39d1c3db-79cf-417c-874b-a3f9b0756fce&gclid=COyCrqDw_6ECFRI-lAod_ScoEw

Never used it myself though. It was just a link that was posted on a CFS group on Facebook.

My friend goes in a chamber like a divers one with a high oxygen content pumped through mask - the company that does it says it has lots of proof that it works but she hasnt been doing it long enough to notice a difference yet.  Thats £5 a session which start at daily and decrease over time.

There's no 'I' in team but there is ME if you mix the letters up a little.
